Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1
About this deal
You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish. The truth of the matter is that not everyone needs a super-expensive microphone—chances are good that you’re not using the equipment that can best be paired with it, so the CL-1 Cloudlifter is a great way to ensure quality recording while you’re saving up for a better interface or standalone preamp. While they are incredible microphones, every step of your recording chain needs to be appropriately managed.
A Cloudlifter Mic Activator utilizes an active circuit powered by your console or preamp's phantom power to provide as much as +25dB of extra gain, turning even a budget console into a better ribbon preamp. When asked about reviewing the Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator, I was unaware of what it was but became very curious upon investigation. From stage to studio, the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter Mic Activator lets you get the best possible audio output from your low-output dynamic and ribbon microphones.
First, I imported a MIDI track of kick drums into Pro Tools then ran the MIDI to the Pop/Rock section of EZdrummer. Reduce feedback - The Cloudlifter allows you to cut through the mix on stage with increased gain before feedback. In actual practice, you wouldn’t start with MIDI-generated audio anyway, you’d start with a snare track you wanted to clean up, or a kick drum track where you liked the feel but didn’t particularly like the sound. Then I put the CL-1 back inline, reduced the Mackie’s gain to match the signal level in Pro Tools, and recorded ambient noise again. Overall, it’s an extremely useful tool, especially for someone with a decent collection of older, low-output microphones. If your goods develop a fault within the warranty period, we'll quickly repair or replace the item for you. Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator is an easy to use, compact solution for common audio problems faced in the field and in the studio.
Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. While the CL-1 Cloudlifter is a somewhat niche product, it’ll help in a pinch if you’re on-location or need to clear up your desk a bit. I do a lot of on location recording of Classical music in the Chicago area and thanks to the CL-2 I’ve rediscovered the joy of using ribbons for spot mics.
This product exists mostly because there’s a strange idea out there that you absolutely need a high-end mic like the Shure SM7B or Electro-Voice RE 20 to get good sounding recordings, and that’s simply not true.Great product I also use this in conjunction on my mixer as a fail safe when I use phantom power with my condenser mics so I don't have to remove all my dynamic mics when powering on +48v since my phantom power once enabled powers every XLR input on my board. I purchased my Shure SM7B from sweetwater thinking I wouldn't need this cloud lifter and oh boy i was wrong, if you purchase the SM7B like i did go ahead and add this little bad boy to your list cause your going to need it. Discover the Cloud Microphones product family—an array of cutting-edge audio solutions designed for artists, studios, broadcasters, and beyond. With a Cloudlifter in your rig, you need not hesitate to take full advantage of your favorite ribbon mics and other go-to low-output dynamic mics. Before that test, I never even considered there might be a delay using EZdrummer, but then four samples isn’t all that much, and it’s not like I’m doing a lot of technopop productions.
