Culdcept Revolt (Nintendo 3DS)
About this deal
In the case of games that use cloud streaming technology, only the free launcher application can be downloaded. The multiplayer is a blast as well since it's so much fun to pit your "Book of Cards" against another human rival. If any one else is planning on getting this game and wants to add me as a friend on 3ds to play this game online, let me know. Certain creatures have abilities that allow me to attack enemy spaces on the other side of the board. Each creature has an element type that corresponds to one of the elements on the board (water, fire, earth, air).
The cards themselves are also well illustrated by various artists, while battle animations are restricted to some limited effects that do the job, but pass on more elaborate visuals as creatures clash. With a ragtag bunch of heroes and a fiendish villain to fight back against it's certainly well-worn material, but acts as a solid platform to support plenty of opportunities to engage in battles. We enjoyed being able to zoom in on card art however, as some of the detail is lost on the small-screened handheld. As the Culdcept series celebrates its 20th anniversary, the addictive card game-meets-board game arrives in Europe for the first time, with hundreds of new cards, inventive boards and exciting multiplayer! There are still some weird quirks of course, with the sudden arrival of a cowboy character early on being a jarring example, and the fact that your evil-doing opponents frequently give you kindly advice about the current map, without any ulterior motive or smarmy attitude whatsoever. Another post-roll option allows for boosting of the element of the square – or changing it, if there's a monster of a different element – that uses up a magic meter. If I claim a space next to that of an opponent, I can use my creature to attack theirs and take it as my own.
im very happy with my purchase and the cards and dice that come with the sp ed are awesome, i have always enjoyed card games and board games - i loved boom street even though i think many didnt like it, tbh i hated boom street to start with but fell in love when i had given it enough play time. It's an interesting idea that's pretty well executed, though it's entirely possible to continue your game with just the standard cards in tow. A crazy mix between Monopoly and Magic The Gathering, Culdcept Revolt is an amazing and addictive game, though you must be prepared to very, very long and slow gaming sessions which badly fit an handheld device. The character sprites and portraits are nice looking, even if I did get confused about one character's gender in story mode. With all the classic elements veterans love yet a gentle learning curve for newcomers, Culdcept Revolt is the best Culdcept yet! On a final note, I'd like to say that the Limited Edition version of this game was so profoundly packaged with amazing artwork and very cool extras that I simply couldn't believe the amount of love and detail that went into the preparation. We'd estimate that a standard game with a limit of 8000 magic takes around thirty minutes to complete on average, but there are plenty of options to mess around with to affect game length, alter card allowances (it's possible to ban Evo cards entirely, for example), as well as customise the look of your cepter and even the style of dice you roll. With some exceptions there's no restrictions on where monsters can be played, but there is a bonus given if the monster's element matches the square's. They go back in time and encounter the brother and sister gods of the world, whose fighting brought about the end of the world after they destroyed each other.
I stumbled upon the game description for Culdcept Revolt by accident as I was browsing through "upcoming" 3DS releases. Never played a game like this before, but I've been interested since I first saw info about it months ago.
Destructoid found the game difficult to review, stating "The concept is simultaneously inventive and archaic, doling out moments of pure delight and agonizing frustration in equal doses.
If I land on an opponent’s spot, I either have to pay the toll or fight their creature with one of my own. The game was released in July 2016 in Japan by Nintendo and in October 2017 internationally by NIS America. There are ways to manipulate the dice roll, and to negate certain traps, but sometimes you'll just suffer a run of misfortune and fall victim to one bout of bad luck too many. The story wasn't great, but for the most part it did its job of giving you some sort of loose explanation for why you're playing this card/board game with all the wacky characters. Culdcept gives you access to the entire set of cards without need for DLC (once you unlock them), and lets you play around building different decks to beat the game in your own way.
