About this deal

This book tries its hardest to convince the reader that in some way Roxy CHOSE to stay with the Vipers. I went into this hearing about the hype and my intrigue of it was very high, so it kept me reading, but I would not recommend this to anyone.

My nerves were hanging on by a thread, like an adrenaline junky needing that next fix, my foot was tapping, my heart was out of beat, my hands were clammy, loving that electrical surge making me read faster. I can’t tell you how many times I have read a book and said I can’t wait to read book 2, but by the time it comes out I have either forgotten about it or am too busy to read the second book. Roxy refers to John Wick a few times and this book does remind me of John Wick in a way because it was quite bloody and the bodies do pile up throughout the book.Roxanne's background isn't exactly glamorous but what it's done is build the foundations of a strong take no bull individual. I would of wanted to see how that developed and turned out like them bending her and making her submit. Between the female character and male characters, you will find yourself wanting to binge-read at times, laugh, cry, and cheer for the female character at times too. There are subplots that take place in the story that involve other gangs in the city but the main plot is completely centered around the 4 men and Roxy. We're told over and over how bad-ass the mafia dudes are and how special the heroine is because she's not like other girls and wears biker girl clothes, and it took me right back to the heydeys of Quizilla in the early 2000s with all of those "pick me" goth girl heroines.

One moment she's running away and the next she's fucking all four of them and the next she's kidnapped (again! If you like your heroines tough and sassy then you have to meet Roxy our bat welding girl who doesn’t go down without a fight. Her father owed a lot of money to the Vipers, four men everyone knows are trouble, and they own the town. She loves to get hit, has rewired herself over years of abuse to like choking, slapping, stabbing, impalement with objects various and sundry (seriously, kudos to the author for that water bottle scene. Kenzo also is a master at games and runs several illegal casino’s, he can also can throw down when needed.

The Vipers have no idea what they want to do with Roxy at first, but one of them, Diesel, the unhinged one who carries a fanny pack with explosives and other things, finds her fascinating. Like a tidal wave, I was pulled under by this authors spell as this book literally got its hooks into me from just that first page. He hates Roxx on sight but tough bickies because when the guys took her, she ended up in their apartment that they all share! But then seeing her going all "I hate you four but fuck I'm still turned on by you'll" and the guys changing from "cute bunnies" to "bloody werewolves" randomly for 500 FUCKING PAGES.

Sometimes you don’t need to find a hero, it’s enough to find someone who will stand with you in the dark and not be afraid of blood and death. The cold, leader who must always put a mask on to protect his brothers and always wears a damn suit. This bitch really got confessions and proposals out of nowhere in the same time frame as God allegedly created heaven and earth. It also does its hardest to slut shame women, but I mean, what do I expect from a book that is literally depicting an abusive relationship with ZERO self awareness? Listen, I think the last quote really speaks for the cheesiness and quality of writing, but I will just end on this. I just think as a bar owner, she would know when to act crass and tough and when to act like a lady.
