About this deal

It’s not all good news though, and we believe that some concessions have been made to hit this spec. The weight and packed size are very appealing; the build quality looks good and its great value too. The NatureHike Cloud Up 2 is an updated version of the Clip Up 2 tent and is NatureHike’s lightest four-season camping tent. For two adults with kit, unless those adults snuggled up in the middle, I would find the sloping walls claustrophobic.

Overall for 15000 yen ( about 150 bucks ), I guess it is good since it weighs less then my other tent. My initial tent setup was performed in the dark, with a flashlight, so I guess you could say it’s pretty non-complicated. The zippers haven’t broken, it isn’t leaking (and I haven’t resealed the seams) and the poles are fine. Thanks to the innovative design to attach the inner tent sheet, the ceiling of the tent inside looks more wide than you would assume from seeing it outside.

Conditions: Has been used over the last three years, one to three nights at a time, year-round; in heavy wind and rain, and in the cold—but not in blizzards. They sometimes lack extra features which high-end brands have, but they hold up, are light and don’t cost a fortune. We always advise a few test runs with pitching a new tent before heading out on the trail and we think that’s especially important with this tent. It comes with very strong aluminium stakes and all the guy lines are reflective so you can see them easily in the dark. Even when your tent appears to be dry after use, it is always best to assure it is completely dry before storing. The one time I had to set up my tent in the rain, it was possible to set up the tent fly first and then set up the tent underneath it, to avoid the tent getting too wet, although this was difficult.

I spend a lot of time looking at lightweight 3p tents and couldn’t find anything else that I liked and was affordable. But the Naturehike freestanding, two-layer tent seemed better-reviewed, even though it was a no-name brand from China, and all the specs seemed to indicate it would pack nicely in my moto luggage. Waterproof performance: waterproof performance itself depends on the tent surface silicon coating, and fabric material has nothing to do with. My initial findings were reinforced; the tent vents fairly well (and dries quickly when it doesn’t). There is more to life than saving short-term bucks; we want to support companies that innovate and improve their products and stand behind them.

It implies it's even ideal on a rocky or harsh bottom: holes in the ground are not necessary anymore. The Naturehike Cloud Up 2 has a decent-sized vestibule which easily fits my 55L pack plus two pairs of boots.INSECT PROOF - with B3 breathable mesh, you can still ventilate your tent without 10 million mosquitoes inviting themselves in for the evening. With sizes able to sleep from 1-2 campers, this versatile tent includes a floor, a footprint and a removable fly that provides optimal protection from wet weather and breathable walls to ensure ample airflow. And, as mentioned before, the Cloud Up 2 is definitely not big enough to fit two poofy winter sleeping bags! I originally read that it is sometimes slightly harder on certain parts of Te Araroa to find a spot to set up a 2-person tent, but in the entire 155 days I never had a problem finding a space to pitch the tent.
